I'm celebrating my one year anniversary this week at the place I work! I'm excited because I'll now be vested in a couple of benefits. Here's the breakdown:
401K Plan - My company matches a portion of my contributions and this portion vests over a 3 year period. 25% after the first year, 50% after the second and 100% after the third. Who knows what the future holds, but I'll now own 25% of their contributions so I'm pretty happy. I just love free money!
Stock Options - Although my company is private, I was awarded stock options upon hire. In the event my company goes public, these options could become real money. Slim chance, but hey, if you know me, you know that I like to take a gamble every once in a while! These vest at 25% per year over a four year period. So, I'm vested baby! 1,250 stock options are now mine.... well, mine to buy if I want to :-)
