Free Credit Score

So, I was reading this blog post called 30 Tips for First Time Home Buyers and it mentioned how you can check your credit score for free! Up until now, I thought you had to pay to get your score. It turns out you can go to Quizzle.com and get a free credit report and score! That was good news.

After simply entering some general info about myself, I was able to see my credit score. It's 698. I guess it qualifies as a "good" credit score. I have to admit that I was a bit surprised that it wasn't higher. I don't have any dings on my credit report and I don't pay bills late or bounce checks. I firmly believe that once we finish paying down our debt, we'll be able to bump it up even higher.

I plan to check it again as we get closer to buying a house. I want to be fully informed and able to get the best interest rate we possibly can.

If you haven't checked your score, I'd recommend looking into Quizzle. You can't beat free!

  1. I just signed up and my score is definitely not correct (as per Myfico which I paid for a few days ago). While credit karma and credit sesame are not right on either they are much closer to my actual score so maybe you should check those out too. They are free as well and no dings for checking your own report or score.

  2. I have never heard of Quizzle but the official free credit report website is www.annualcreditreport.com where you can pull your credit reports from all three reporting agencies at no charge. I do this once a year just to make sure all of the info is correct.

  6. Thanks for the tip, Stephanie! I think people should give some time to check their credit score, so they will know if they are qualified for a loan. Also, one advantage of knowing your credit score is to help set your financial track. And from the looks of it, I think that you are on the right track to financial management success!
