Free Credit Report Time!

It's that time of year... time to get your free credit report. If you don't already know, you can get one free credit report (from each of the 3 major reporting agencies) every 12 months. This is the website you should go to to get yours: https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/index.jsp

That means you can actually get one every 4 months. I'm trying to start a new habit and plan to get one in April, August and December. This time I went with Experian, but there's also TransUnion and Equifax as well. It's good to just rotate through each of them in the course of a year.

I just download mine and my husband's. Mine looked fine but my husband's had a few things we'll need to look at. If you don't already do this, you really should. It's a great opportunity to catch mistakes, see if anyone has stolen your identity and just check in on the status of your open accounts.

Good Idea : Get your free credit report at least once a year, if not every 4 months!

Question : When was the last time you checked your credit report? Is this something you are already doing?

  1. I check mine annually, and that is how I found out about the collection account from the radiology group.

  3. I've NEVER checked mine but I know it's AOK as last August when I bought the house out in PEI a credit check was done. It's not something I think about too much which I think is generally the "Canadian Way"!
