Another Payment Lowered!

Not sure if you recently heard about how NetFlix is raising their prices. I was paying $14.99 per month for unlimited streaming and 2 DVD's at a time. This came to $16.30 with tax each month. I was recently notified that they are separating their plans and the prices are going up. My new plan would be $19.98 before taxes.

I decided that I didn't want to pay that much. I considered downgrading to the streaming with 1 DVD, but then figured it's just as easy to stop at RedBox on the way home and get a movie for $1. The streaming alone through Netflix is just $7.99. Although there is not a ton of options on there yet, there's usually something I can find to watch.

I know it's not a big savings each month, but that's about $8 more I can put towards our credit card payment! Every snowflake helps :)

Question: Do you use NetFlix? Did you change your plan or are you going to just accept the increase and maintain your current plan?

  1. We use Netflix - streaming and 1 DVD at a time - but only during the summer when school is out. The prices will go up for us in September, but I will have already cancelled by then. Not sure what we'll do next summer - maybe just streaming. Good for you for finding a snowflake!

  2. My husband and I use NetFlix streaming only. He works nights, so it gives him something to do on the nights that he is at home. The increase in price won't affect us (so it seems), so we will go ahead and keep everything the same for now.

  3. We only had the one DVD a month plan and streaming. We have it as a cable substitute, so it's still worth it for us.

Does suck they raised their prices, but hopefully it will bring in a better selection of streaming. *fingers crossed*

You're every little bit helps. I counted the $2.18 worth of change I found at the beginning of the year. I know it sounds stupid but I laughed about it and it made me feel like I was doing the right thing.

  4. I'm going to go to just streaming- it's mostly what I use. Between the library and free Redbox rentals I'm good.

  5. we currently pay $10.85 a month for 1 dvd at a time and streaming, so ours would go up to like $16 something and I just said forget it. I'm going to cancel it. Redbox is way cheaper.

  6. I wish we had netflix or any service similar to it where I live at a good price. I think just the streaming is ok and like you said. If you really need a dvd you can go to redbox.

  7. I have the streaming + 1 dvd plan, but will be going down to the streaming only plan. We maybe watch 2 dvds a month so the price increase isn't worth it to me.

  8. I'm staying with Netflix, but I'm not going to keep the online streaming service. It's a major bummer since I like having the option, but I don't really use it that much.
